ThreadCount: free hosted accounts, beside Community

ThreadCount can be used two ways, and both are free: an account on threadcount.tech, or the open-source Community edition on your own server.

ThreadCount keeps track of uniforms for any organisation that hands them out: who holds what, what's on the shelf by size, what to order next and what it cost each team. As of 29 September 2026 there are two ways to use it, and both are free.

Two ways in

  • A hosted account. Create an account on threadcount.tech and start straight away. Nothing to install.
  • The Community edition. Run it on your own server under the AGPL. The source is on GitHub, with tagged releases and their own notes.

There are no plans and no prices, and no feature is held back on either side.

Built for any trade

ThreadCount started out with one kind of workplace in mind. It now works for hotels, security firms, shops, cleaners, schools, depots, factories and clinics. The words the screens use (what a team is called, the store, the delivery round, the person who signs) are a setting. Pick a starting point for your kind of organisation, or type your own. Screens, slips, emails, notifications and exports all use the words you chose.

Also in recent releases

  • Supplier order lists. Everything at or below its reorder level, net of what's already on order, grouped by supplier. Each order prints as an A4 sheet with the supplier's codes for each size, or goes out as a CSV or an email.
  • Usage forecasts. Each garment shows its order history, price history and a suggested reorder level.
  • Requests decided line by line. One request can carry many garments, and a manager approves or declines each line.
  • Two Android apps. A counter app for the people issuing uniform and a staff app for the people wearing it. Both can point at a self-hosted server.
  • Account deletion from the phone, and short error codes to quote when asking for help.

The full list is on ThreadCount's changelog, which also shows what's being built next.
